Hadley’s practice focuses on the entire life cycle of a brand – from the brand’s conception and trademark clearance, trademark and copyright prosecution and portfolio management, through enforcement and litigation of these rights before federal courts and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Additionally, she advises clients on the legislative and policy landscape for intellectual property rights.
During law school, Hadley focused on the intersections between intellectual property rights and First Amendment Law. She published a student note examining social media defamation in the United States and proposing a new standard of review for such cases. While serving as a student attorney in the Duke Law First Amendment Clinic, Hadley achieved a favorable outcome for a defamation defense client in federal district court and worked with other clients on pre-publication review, academic freedom, and political speech issues. Hadley also researched music copyright law and assisted in textbook review as a research assistant for Professor Jennifer Jenkins.
Prior to law school, Hadley worked for an international public relations firm as a senior associate, advising CEOs, university presidents, colleges, and other higher education thought leaders on a range of traditional and digital media strategies.
