Rhianna has a broad patent practice and advises a range of clients from startup companies to large biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies on patent prosecution, counselling, global portfolio management, post-grant proceedings, freedom-to-operate and validity/patentability analyses, due diligence, and pre-litigation investigations. She also has experience in inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and opposition proceedings at the European Patent Office.
She has a wide range of technical experience, including the areas of antibody therapeutics, CAR-T cells, immunology, gene editing and CRISPR, gene therapy, diagnostics, oncology, recombinant therapies, small molecules, medical devices, and surgical tools.
Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Rhianna earned her doctoral degree in immunology, with her research focusing on characterizing autoantibodies in human systemic autoimmunity. Rhianna is a co-author on a number of scientific publications in well-respected journals in the field of immunology and has presented her research at international scientific meetings. She then gained significant intellectual property experience at two international law firms.
