Anneke Altieri provides practical legal and policy guidance on FDA, USDA, FDA, and state regulatory issues to assist clients at all levels of the food supply chain.  Anneke also advises consumer products companies on compliance with CPSC consumer safety regulations, including Section 15(b) reporting obligations, federal safety standards, and recalls.

Anneke Altieri helps clients throughout the food and beverage industry navigate the complex state and federal regulatory landscape.  Anneke provides practical advice for compliance with labeling, advertising, and safety regulations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), and the states.  She has extensive experience helping clients address enforcement challenges such as recalls, FDA 483s, Warning Letters, state inspection observations, consent decrees, and Congressional investigations. Anneke also works closely with trade associations and food companies to develop and draft comments on proposed regulations and agency guidance to help shape public policy developments affecting the food industry. 

Drawing on previous regulatory experience with the Department of Homeland Security, Anneke understands the nuanced intersection of government and industry. Before arriving at Hogan Lovells, Anneke graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a Fellow for the Legal Research and Writing Program and served on the editorial board of the Virginia Law and Business Review.

Representative experience

Advised several companies on CPSC 15(b) reporting obligations, avoided a recall in multiple instances, and navigated a recall in others

Counseled food manufacturer on responding to an FDA Inspectional Observations Form 483 and avoiding further enforcement action

Advise major food companies on compliance with FSMA preventive controls and supply chain requirements

Advise on labeling changes to mitigate class action litigation risk
