As partner in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) team in the Corporate and Finance practice in Hong Kong, Tommy specializes in strategic transaction structuring and complex contractual arrangements for TMT-related projects.

In addition to TMT, he has key sector experience within the financial services, sponsorship, commodity, retail and media sectors. His in-depth experience includes preparing complex contracts for outsourcings; technology licensing and development; content licensing; electronic payments; distribution, marketing and supply of goods and services; and TMT/IP-focused mergers and acquisitions, separations, restructurings and joint ventures.

As an extension of his practice, Tommy advises on regulatory, data privacy, contractual dispute negotiation and intellectual property-related matters, including addressing regulatory issues for complex cross-border contracts, business dissolution agreements, and on-going IP and branding issues.

Tommy also works with the wider Hogan Lovells Corporate and Finance team on complex acquisitions, separation and joint venture matters, including long-term transitional and service delivery arrangements.

Advising various multi-national corporation including UBS, Lloyds Bank, AIA, AXA, China Telecom in relation to outsourcing agreements, interconnection deals, telecommunications agreements, etc.
Advising various multi-national corporations including SABMiller, HSBC, Morgan Stanley, NTT Com, Fairphone on regulatory compliance and regulatory issues in the telecommunication and technology sectors.
Advising on various cross-border transactions including joint venture, PRC regulatory schemes in various industrial sectors, sale and purchase of securities, etc.
Advising on media-related matters, including music licensing deals, artiste management agreements, content distribution matters, software development agreements, etc
Advising Tencent, China Telecom, Standard Chartered Bank on data privacy, information security, user policy and personal data protection policies in multiple jurisdictions.
Advising Tencent on its international expansion plans including (i) WeChat Out, enabling WeChat users to communicate with landlines and mobile devices; (ii) WeChat Wallet, Tencent’s stored value and payments product; and (iii) overseas expansion of Tencent Cloud, Tencent's cloud computing service platform.
Advising various financial institutions on mobile banking initiatives including biometric authentication, Open API initiatives, cross-border payment, amongst others.
Advising on Hong Kong regulatory schemes and governmental licensing matters, including Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Customs & Excise Department, Hong Kong Communications Authority, Hong Kong Immigration Department, Securities & Futures Commission of Hong Kong, etc
Advising China Telecom Global on its commercial and regulatory work.
Advising a leading global insurance provider on the outsourcing in 18 jurisdictions across the Asia-Pacific region.
