The updated edition of the Private Litigation Guide published by Global Competition Review (GCR) and co-edited by Hogan Lovells has just been released. The Guide examines the key topics in competition litigation cases in major jurisdictions around the world. As we have in past years, our global Competition Litigation team edited the updated edition and contributed numerous chapters, i.e. England and Wales; Germany, Netherlands, and the United States.

The importance of antitrust damages actions continues to grow worldwide. The implementation of the EU Damages Directive in the Member States has furthered the ability of victims of anticompetitive conduct to seek compensation, even as US courts tighten the standards for certifying a class action. German and Dutch courts are also increasingly hearing such cases, which often amount to substantial sums in the millions and in England the class action regime is becoming increasingly active. As these cases regularly span multiple jurisdictions, plaintiffs and defendants should keep the specifics for each region in mind at all times.

The Private Litigation Guide – published by Global Competition Review and co-edited by Hogan Lovells partners Nicholas Heaton and Benjamin Holt – examines key issues that arise in the enforcement or defense of cartel damages claims. The first section reviews key issues that have cross-border relevance. The second part contains a Q&A section with a concise presentation of antitrust damages actions in the jurisdictions relevant for such litigation. Our global Competition Litigation team contributed i.e. various Q&A chapters on competition litigation in key jurisdictions.
