Commenting on the IMC appointments, CEO Miguel Zaldivar said: “Our Practice Group Leaders and Regional Managing Partners play a crucial role in ensuring that our firm is making good progress on our strategic priorities.

“As a global law firm that is known for high-value complex transactional work, particularly in highly-regulated sectors, our Corporate & Finance practice is a central engine of the firm. James and David will bring new ideas and will draw upon their knowledge of our clients to take our Corporate & Finance practice to even greater heights.

“Our EMEA region is critical to our success - some of our largest and most successful offices are based in the region, particularly London, Germany, and Paris. I have worked closely with José María Balañá for many years - he brings laser sharp focus and boundless energy to the Regional Managing Partner role.”

New Chair-elect Marie-Aimée de Dampierre added: "I'd like to welcome Lillian and Andreas as new members of the Board, and to congratulate Adrian on his re-election to the London seat. I also offer my thanks and gratitude to Cate Stetson and Clay James."

New Corporate & Finance Practice Group Leader James Doyle added: "I would like to thank David Gibbons for his exemplary leadership over the last seven years. Our Corporate & Finance practice has gone from strength to strength under his leadership. Helping clients on some of the most complex and transformative transactions, it is now the firm's largest practice group by billings and headcount, comprising over 400+ partners and approximately 1,700 lawyers across over 40 offices. I look forward to continuing to grow our practice and building on our excellent international reputation.

José María Balañá, new Regional Managing Partner for the EMEA region, commented: “Our EMEA region comprises over 4,000 people, including 1,500 lawyers based in 15 countries, and it is home to three of the firm’s key engines – Germany, London, and Paris. Despite many challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, EMEA continues to achieve great results, representing 45% of our firm's revenue in 2020. Our global footprint and stellar track record are key to many of the firm’s cross-border transactions and disputes.”
