Karla is a senior associate based in Mexico City, she focuses on corporate law, particularly mergers and acquisitions and contractual matters. She has been a member of Hogan Lovells since 2014.

She advises clients in acquisition deals, joint venture transactions, including performance of due diligence and negotation of transaction documents, formation of Mexican entities for transnational companies operating in Mexico, corporate reorganizations, mergers, spin-offs and day-to-day corporate work. Karla also assists clients in preparing and negotiating all kinds of contracts as part of the company's day-to-day business.

Karla obtained her law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico in 2011 with Academic Excellence and obtained a Master in Corporate Law from Universidad Panamericana in 2017 graduating with honors. Before joining Hogan Lovells, she spent several years at other prestigious Mexican law firms advising transnational corporations on corporate matters and M&A deals. 

Representative experience

Advised Owens Illinois, the world's largest glass container manufacturer, in the US$2.15 billion acquisition of the food and beverage containers division of Vitro (Mexico's largest glass producer).

Advised several Mexican entities in the merger process of their services entities as a result of the amendment to the Mexican Labor Law.

Advised and prepared corporate restructuring documents for a leading international company involved in grain, food, and feed ingredient business.

Advised Spanish airline in the sale of 100% of its Mexican branch.
