Marvin J. Goldstein concentrates in commodities and derivatives law as well as in corporate and energy law. He has counseled a number of firms acting as dealers and participants in the commodities (including energy and metals) and derivatives markets, advising them on various legal aspects of their trading activities. Marvin’s work in recent years has included advising clients on, and structuring transactions involving, renewable sources of energy (including renewable fuels), hydrogen and carbon capture, as well as the trading and implementation of carbon, emissions and environmental credits and allowances. He has also assisted clients in structuring transactions, analyzing risks, preparing documentation and responding to counterparty defaults and market disruptions.
Marvin has experience with a wide range of transactions, including physical commodity transactions; traditional and bespoke finance structures; intermediations in energy and metals; swaps; options; cash-settled hybrid securities; and derivatives. He has extensive experience representing clients in connection with energy commodities, precious and base metals, traditional commodities such as coffee, sugar, cocoa, grains and cattle, and financial commodities such as interest rates, currencies and other financial instruments.
