Ronnie Arenas
Senior Associate Litigation, Arbitration, and Employment
Ronnie has extensive litigation experience from the pleading stage through trial. A significant portion of his practice is devoted to defending complex wage and hour class actions and representative actions under California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), which assert claims relating to overtime, meal and rest periods, time rounding, misclassification, and inaccurate wage statements. He also represents clients against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and other employment-related torts and liabilities under the California Labor Code, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), and other state and federal employment laws.
In addition to his litigation and trial work, Ronnie advises and represents clients in administrative hearings, arbitrations, and in matters brought by administrative agencies. He routinely appears before the California Civil Rights Department (CRD), the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), the Employment Development Department (EDD), the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and before impartial arbitrators and hearing officers.
Ronnie also provides advice and counsel regarding California and federal employment law with respect to hiring and discipline procedures, worker classification issues, leaves of absence, wage and hour law, and severance and termination strategies. Fluent in Spanish, Ronnie can provide effective bilingual employment and safety training programs.
