Hogan Lovells 2024 Election Impact and Congressional Outlook Report
Last updated: December, 2024
This document describes how Hogan Lovells International LLP, Hogan Lovells US LLP, and our affiliated businesses (collectively “Hogan Lovells”) use cookies and tracking technologies on our websites and mobile apps.
It is our policy to use cookies and tracking technologies only with the consent of the users of the digital services we provide, except where the use of cookies or tracking technologies is strictly necessary for the operation or use of a service.
This document describes how Hogan Lovells and other entities may use cookies and tracking technologies in association with the operation of our main website (www.hoganlovells.com) and all of our websites, mobile applications, and HTML-formatted emails that link to or reference this Cookie Policy (collectively, “Digital Services”).
We set out below information about:
To find out more about our approach to privacy please read our Privacy Policy.
1. COOKIES AND ONLINE TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES
Web Browser Cookies
A web browser cookie is a small text file that is sent by a website to your computer or mobile device where it is stored by your web browser. Web browser cookies may store information such as your IP address or other identifier, your browser type, and information about the content you view and interact with on digital services. By storing such information, web browser cookies can remember your preferences and settings for online services and analyze how you use online services.
Tracking Technologies: Web Beacons/Gifs, Pixels, Page Tags, Script
Emails and mobile apps may contain small transparent image files or lines of code to record how you interact with them. This information is used to help website and app publishers better analyze and improve their services.
Tracking Via Mobile Apps
When you use mobile applications, unique identifiers associated with your device (such as the device ID and IP address), your activity within the App and your network location may be recorded. This information may be used to analyze, improve and customize digital services.
2. HOW WE USE COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES
We use some cookies and tracking technologies for purposes which are strictly necessary for your use of our Digital Services. These may include, for example, cookies which remember your preferences and settings; which remember information that you may enter online (so that it does not have to be re-entered every time you move to another page); or to keep you logged in to portals that we may offer where you wish this to happen.
With your consent we may also use cookies and tracking technologies for other purposes, such as the generation of aggregate statistics about how people use our Digital Services; for error management and troubleshooting; to help you share content with others; to enable you to receive information about other products and services; and to improve your experience of the Digital Services.
Performance cookies
Where you have permitted the use of performance cookies, we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. The data controller for users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland is Google Ireland Limited, Google Building Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland (“Google”). We use Google Analytics 4 to collect statistical information about how our Digital Services are used without personally identifying you. Google Analytics services involve the use of cookies that collect information such as your IP address or other identifiers, browser information, and information about the content you view and interact with to record how you use our Digital Services.
Google Analytics 4 has IP anonymisation enabled by default. Due to IP anonymisation, your IP address will be truncated by Google within the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. According to Google, the IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.
Please note that we only collect the following data elements through Google Analytics 4:
These analytics services help us to know how many users we have, which parts of our sites are most popular, what browsers are used (so we can maximize compatibility), the country or region where our users are located, and the demographics and interests of our users. This enables us to better understand who is using our Digital Services and to improve how we present content on the Digital Services.
The information collected by means of the cookies about your use of this website is generally transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google Analytics 4 cookies may retain information for up to two years. For more information about Google Analytics 4 services, please click here.
We also deploy a survey tool which is designed to collect information on visitors to our site. Some of this information is collected automatically, while other details are collected from you (with your consent) if you respond to an invitation to complete a survey, which you will receive when you leave the site.
Sitecore’s analytics cookie is associated with the Sitecore Content Management System which is used for web analytics to identify repeat visits by unique users.
Functional cookies
The consentIPtrack cookie is a Sitecore cookie used to tailor our website content based on your location. Where you have permitted the use of functional cookies, this cookie stores an ID that represents the device location and a true/false value indicating whether visitor classification was guessed (robot or not robot). Sitecore does not exercise any control over and will not store, and has no obligation to retain, IP Address or IP Geolocation Data, as part of its provision of services. Further information about this Sitecore cookie can be found here. Please note that we only use users’ country, state and city information.
Advertising cookies
If you consent to advertising cookies we may deploy LinkedIn Insight. This is a tag or pixel that allows us to measure the activity of users on our websites, by means of a link with the LinkedIn advertising system and the personal data which LinkedIn holds. This enables us to see aggregate reports about the users of our sites who have a LinkedIn account and also to provide relevant advertising on LinkedIn. LinkedIn itself does not supply to us the identity of the users concerned.
Certain features on the Digital Services, for example embedded videos or podcasts, may be offered by or direct you to third parties when you use the feature. Third parties may obtain information about you when you use such features. The third parties’ use of your information, including their deployment of cookies and tracking technologies, is subject to the third party’s privacy policy — not ours.
You can find a list of the cookies we may deploy, including their duration, below.
