Law360 names five Hogan Lovells partners in 2018 MVP awards

Washington, D.C., 18 December 2018 – Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce that five partners, Michele Farquhar, Adam Golden, Michelle Kisloff, Allison Schoenthal and Jonathan Stoel, have been named by Law360 in its annual list of  legal industry MVPs. With five winners, Hogan Lovells tied for fourth position among all U.S. law firms.

The annual list recognizes lawyers who have set new standards in the legal industry, either through innovation or by leading in high-profile, precedent-setting matters. The firm’s five winners were picked from a group of 71 winners overall, representing 35 legal practice areas.

Michele Farquhar is a Global Regulatory partner in our Communications practice based in our Washington D.C. office. The award recognized an outstanding 2018, which included groundbreaking work on spectrum acquisition and needed FCC waivers and other relief for the freight railroads to support positive train control, and the Federal Communications Commission’s acceptance of a proposal she developed with SES and Intelsat to expand use of the C-band spectrum.

Adam Golden is head of the Corporate group in our New York office and a partner in our Life Sciences practice. Golden achieved a red letter year in 2018, in which he advised on a hatful of major deals in the biotech market. Those included advising Celgene on its US$9 billion acquisition of Juno Therapeutics and Novartis on its US$8.7 billion acquisition of AveXis.

Michelle Kisloff, a Litigation, Arbitration, and Employment partner specializing in Cybersecurity and Privacy practice in our Washington D.C. office, was recognized after yet another year of outstanding work on behalf of household-name clients. Among her many high-profile successes, she obtained wins for  Uber following a data security incident, represented Sears in obtaining first-of-its-kind relief from terms of a Federal Trade Commission consent decree, and helped Anthem to conclude a settlement following a cyber attack.

Allison Schoenthal, a Litigation, Arbitration, and Employment partner, based in New York, and head of our Consumer Finance practice, had a breakthrough year in 2018 thanks to numerous wins on behalf of high-profile clients. Her practice, of which she is the founding partner,  has quickly built a reputation as the go-to practice for defending lenders, loan servicers, and banks in litigations and investigations related to all types of consumer loans.

Jonathan Stoel is a Partner in our International Trade and Investment practice and the co-head of the firm’s Public International Law, Investment Treaty Protection, and International Arbitration practice.  Jonathan was nominated following a year of high-profile victories and innovative legal representation. Those matters included representing Canadian Solar in disputes involving more than $7 billion worth of trade, winning a significant victory before the U.S. International Trade Commission on behalf of Simcoa, Australia’s only silicon metal producer, and seeking an exclusion for Kinder Morgan from the Trump Administration’s “national security” tariff on steel imports.
