Hogan Lovells 2024 Election Impact and Congressional Outlook Report
The CLLS Training Committee is a coalition of leading City law firms with a vision to introduce 100 solicitor apprentices annually across its membership. The Solicitor Apprenticeship Scheme is designed to discover new talent for the firm and expand its outreach to the market.
Applications for the Scheme will open in the autumn of 2023, with assessment centres to be held in the spring of 2024. The first cohort of solicitor apprentices will join Hogan Lovells in September 2024 with each apprenticeship running for a six-year period. At its maximum, it is envisaged that Hogan Lovells will have a group of 14 solicitor apprentices in the UK.
This exciting development is an important step in the firm's effort to attract and retain the best talent, while promoting diversity and inclusiveness in the legal industry.
"We are thrilled to introduce the Solicitor Apprenticeship Scheme and demonstrate our commitment to greater social mobility and diversity," said Penny Angell, Office Managing Partner at Hogan Lovells. "This initiative will provide new opportunities for aspiring solicitors and help us to discover the next generation of legal talent."
Last year, Hogan Lovells also signed a pledge to recognize UK legal apprenticeships as an equal pathway into a legal career. The pledge was signed by 29 law firms and committed to recruiting and developing talent based on a set of principles, ensuring that solicitor apprentices are treated similarly to those from traditional training routes throughout their careers.
