Press releases | 19 August 2021

Led by Frankfurt partners Tim Oliver Brandi and Michael Schlitt, international law firm Hogan Lovells has advised the Bundesrepublik Deutschland – Finanzagentur GmbH (Finanzagentur) on the sale of part of the shareholding in Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DLH) held by the Economic Stabilization Fund (WSF).

In June 2020, the WSF (represented by the Finanzagentur) had concluded agreements with DLH on the granting of stabilization measures in the amount of up to EUR 6.0 billion. Accordingly, WSF granted DLH silent participations of up to EUR 5.7 billion and acquired a 20% stake in DLH's increased share capital as part of a capital increase.

As announced on 16 August 2021, WSF will now reduce its shareholding in DLH by a limited amount, but by a maximum of one quarter (5%), over several weeks depending on market conditions.
