Hogan Lovells announces new Global Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing

Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce that Julie Thomas has been appointed to lead the firm's diversity, inclusion and wellbeing strategy globally. She will head up a global team advising the firm's leadership and implementing a range of initiatives to attract and retain diverse talent at all levels across the firm's practices, industry sectors and regions, with a particular focus on retention and career advancement. Julie will work closely with the firm’s Global Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and collaborate with regional committees and local leadership to drive Hogan Lovells' goal of increased diversity at senior levels, ensuring that the firm's culture continues to be fit for the future.

Ruth Grant, partner and Chair of the Global Diversity & Inclusion Committee, comments on Julie's appointment:

We are excited that Julie has joined Hogan Lovells. With her background in creating and implementing major diversity and inclusion programmes at a globally-recognised multinational corporation, Julie brings a breadth of experience and ideas which will help cement our position as a leader in the field. Although there has been considerable progress in the legal profession over the last 15 years, there is still much to do to drive real change particularly at a senior level. Julie will help us pick up the pace and build on our existing foundation to create a truly diverse global organisation. We’re confident she is the right person to take up that challenge.

Julie joins the firm from Zurich Insurance, where she served as Global Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing. There she developed the insurance company’s first wellbeing framework incorporating a global mental health champions programme. She also led numerous other diversity and inclusion initiatives, helping the company to align its business goals with its corporate social responsibilities.

Julie Thomas comments:

Thanks to the outstanding work they have done over a number of years, Hogan Lovells has a richly-deserved reputation as a champion of diversity and inclusion. I am looking forward to helping to continue to truly embed diversity and inclusion, creating programmes, policies, and projects that will further enhance that reality and make Hogan Lovells an even better place to work.
