Robert Fettman speaks insurance. M&A, capital markets, financial distress workouts, reinsurance, corporate governance, and regulatory oversight of insurance are all corners of the insurance legal industry in which Robert is active.

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Robert was a member of the insurance transactional group of a major U.S. law firm where he worked on many of the largest Life and P/C insurance acquisitions (including the largest P/C acquisition in history), representing both U.S. and non-U.S. public and private companies within the insurance industry, as well as non-sector clients, including private equity firms and pension funds. Many of Robert's deals involved complex, cross-border insurance transactions and minority investments in insurance holding company systems.

Drawing on his experience from working with several renowned insurance regulatory practitioners early in his career, Robert regularly advises clients on insurance regulatory compliance, market conduct examinations, disciplinary proceedings, multi-state insurer and agency licensing, insurance product development, surplus lines, statutory investments, and transactions within insurance holding company systems. Clients also turn to Robert for advice on regulatory issues implicated by technological developments in the insurance industry, including InsurTech, blockchain, and AI.

Robert's trajectory as both an insurance transactional lawyer and an insurance regulatory lawyer provides him with a highly distinctive skill set that has made him an invaluable resource to his clients.

Robert is an active member of the Committee on Insurance Law of the New York City Bar Association, and his articles on various insurance topics have appeared in Bloomberg Law Reports, SNL Financial Insurance Daily, and the Insurance Advocate.
