Steffen Steininger helps clients navigate through challenging IP issues successfully and efficiently. With a wealth of experience in patent infringement and validity litigation at all major German District and Appeals Courts, the German Federal Supreme Court, the German Patent Court, the EPO and courts in the UK, France, the Netherlands and Italy, Steffen tailors litigation strategies for both international companies and start-ups to offer the best results and use resources efficiently.
For his work Steffen can draw on a deep understanding of telecoms, life sciences and automotive industries. His comprehensive knowledge of patent litigation also helps Steffen to guide clients through the pitfalls of unfair competition litigation, the negotiation of licensing agreements and IP transactions. Steffen is also a sought after for his wealth of knowledge on the new Unitary Patent and Unified Patent Court. Steffen heads our Munich patent litigation group.
JUVE, the leading German directory for law firms, has been listing Steffen for many years as "highly recommended" for patent litigation proceedings. iam 1000 calls him an "UPC expert" and lawyer who "has asserted the integrity of patents all the way up to the European Court of Justice". Wirtschaftswoche listed him in 2017 as one of only 20 German lawyers for the "first league of patents in Germany".
Steffen also heads Hogan Lovells Citizenship activities for Continental Europe. He studied law in Regensburg (Germany) and Paris (France). He received a Master's degree from the University of Oxford (UK) in 1999 and a Ph.D. in the area of international procedural law in Germany in 2002.
