WASHINGTON, D.C., 2 December 2016 – Stephen J. Immelt, Chief Executive Officer of Hogan Lovells, has received the Judge Learned Hand Award from the Washington Region of the American Jewish Committee.

The award, named after Judge Learned Hand of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, recognizes an outstanding lawyer who displays a deep commitment and dedication to justice, equality and respect by working to advance human rights and democratic values. Immelt was honored at an awards dinner on 30 November in Washington, D.C., where Jeffrey R. Immelt, GE’s Chairman and CEO, and Steve's brother, delivered the keynote address.

Hogan Lovells’ renowned citizenship program reflects its commitment to civil society, the protection of human rights, empowering women and girls, promoting sustainability and dedication to the rule of law.

“It is a great privilege to accept this award on behalf of Hogan Lovells, where commitment to the community is one of the things that defines us,” said Steve Immelt, who became CEO of Hogan Lovells in 2014. “I admire what the American Jewish Committee has accomplished over its 110 year history and am honored to embrace the values that the Judge Learned Hand Award represents.”

As CEO, Immelt focuses on developing and driving the firm’s vision and strategy and supporting client relationships. He is passionate about leadership and created Project Redefine, a major global initiative that has improved the way the firm operates to adapt to the rapidly changing and evolving marketplace.
