Continental Europe

Our diversity efforts span Continental Europe. We have partner diversity champions in our local offices to support our regional activity. We have signed national diversity charters in both Germany and France with more countries to follow. And we’re particularly proud of our “Women@HL” program, an award-winning training program aimed at promoting more women to the partnership and providing career development and networking opportunities through a series of events.

Specific Events and Initiatives
  • Committed to increase the presence of women in management and executive boards in an agreement with the Spanish Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality. Lucía Lorente, Chief Operating Officer, Continental Europe, was appointed a Mentor of the Promotion Program for Women Managers in Leadership
  • Attracted over 200 clients and contacts to our Munich Women of Achievement speaker series event presenting a panel discussion on the topic “Women in the Lead – How Can the Cultural Change Succeed in Companies and Society?”
  • Sought out “undiscovered talent” at the Amsterdam job fair for young professionals with a non-Western background (Ongekende Talenten Markt)
  • Celebrated International Women’s Day at our Annual Paris Ladies Cocktail Event with 150 clients and 40 partners, counsel, and senior associates at the Foundation Pierre Bergé Yves Saint Laurent
  • Co-founded and launched Spain’s first network for female law firm partners in Madrid
  • Evolved our German “Women@HL” program to include training for men and women with the three-part seminar, “Rituals for Success in the Business World”
  • Joined a new LGBT legal network for lawyers in-house, at law firms, and in government and academia
  • Considered “21st Century Fatherhood: How Roles are Changing” in a seminar in our Brussels office
  • Pursued LGBT talent at the first “Alice” job fair for LGBT lawyers in Frankfurt and the “Sticks and Stones” LGBT job fair in Berlin for the fourth consecutive year
  • Discussed “Generosity: How Women can Help Each Other to the Top” with female clients and contacts in Frankfurt
  • Networked with our female lawyers in our German and Paris offices at regular Ladies Lunches, often with client or guest speakers
  • Discussed “Cross-Cultural Management” at an internal seminar for all staff in our Brussels office, where over 20 nationalities work together
  • Debated “The Female Quota: Challenges and Opportunities” with contacts and clients in our Munich office
